Driving School in

Your teen is about to learn to drive on the same stretches of Airline Highway and I-10 that fill the parish's crash reports every weekend. Most driving schools will teach them just enough to pass the test — they'll never teach the situational awareness that prevents the 60-mph swerve when a distracted driver drifts into their lane.

That's why Magnolia Driving Academy exists. Founded and taught by currently-serving Louisiana law enforcement officers who respond to those exact crashes, we teach Prairieville families a defensive-driving curriculum drawn from law enforcement training — 15 minutes from your front door, with pickup available from Dutchtown High, Galvez Middle, and the parish's private schools. We offer 38-hour teen driver education for new drivers, 14-hour adult driver education for late starters, and road skills test prep with a third-party examiner so your teen never has to wait at the OMV.

Frequently Asked Questions from Prairieville Families

How far is Magnolia's campus from Prairieville?
Our Gonzales campus at 9094 S St Landry Ave is about 10 miles from central Prairieville — roughly a 15-minute drive via LA-73 or I-10. Most Prairieville families find this dramatically more convenient than driving into Baton Rouge for a lesson.
Do you pick students up from Dutchtown High or Galvez Middle?
Yes. We offer scheduled pickup from Dutchtown High School, Galvez Middle, and most Prairieville-area middle and high schools for behind-the-wheel sessions. Just let us know your school and dismissal time when you enroll.
Does completing your course satisfy Louisiana's Class D requirements?
Yes. Our 38-hour driver education program — 30 hours classroom plus 8 hours behind-the-wheel — meets every Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles requirement for the Class D intermediate license phase for students aged 15 and up.
What makes Magnolia different from other Prairieville driving schools?
Every instructor at Magnolia is a currently-serving Louisiana law enforcement officer — not retired, not former, but actively working the same roads your child will be learning on. We respond to teen-driver crashes on LA-73, Airline Highway, and the I-10 corridor every week. That live, on-duty experience shapes every lesson — defensive driving and situational-awareness techniques drawn directly from law enforcement training. No other school in Ascension Parish can credibly say the same.
How quickly can my teen start?
We typically have classroom seats opening every two weeks. Behind-the-wheel scheduling is flexible — most students start their first lesson within 5–7 days of enrolling. Call (225) 363-7407 or use the enroll form to see the next available start date.
Do you teach adult learners?
Absolutely. About a third of our students are adults — new Louisiana residents, learners returning after a long break, and folks who never got around to it as a teen. Adult lessons are private one-on-one with a certified instructor, scheduled at your convenience.
